"Like Silly Doves" 

Hosea 7:11 "Ephraim also is like a silly dove, without sense, they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria. Wherever they go I will spread my net on them, I will bring them down like birds of the air, I will chastise them according to what their congregation has heard."

Ephraim, referring to Israel, had often turned to other nations for rescue or protection. Turning everywhere and to anyone instead of turning back to God. The nation of God's people, like God's individual people tend to try or resort to almost anything rather than to God.

Reminder.... only God can save you, or protect you. Silly us, always looking to something else other than prayer, or His Word, or fellowship, or serving others, just anything other than what God would have us do. We flit about aimlessly like frightened, or startled and senseless birds in panic-mode, looking for help, answers, hope and solutions, anywhere but from God.

Take sparrows for example, look at them, His eye is on the sparrow, is it not? Turn to God. Not one sparrow falls outside of God's will. (Matthew 10:27-31) Whether a nation, or a church, a family, an individual or a dove or sparrow.... God is Lord of it all. Silly to think any other way.
