“Arise, O Lord”

Arise, O Lord, do not let man prevail; let the nations be judged before You. Put them in fear, O Lord; Let the nations know they are but men. Selah - Psalm 9:19-20

We celebrate Easter every year as Resurrection Sunday. In a world that turns over what is current in less than 72 hours, the Good News can be seen as “old news” pretty fast. We consume everything at an alarming rate, then move on to the next new thing. In essence “what’s new” is what’s news. What if the historical resurrection could happen afresh every year? I mean the actual event. I know Christ died once for all and that will not change, what if it could though?

I think I like what this Psalm says about the Lord arising and what His power could do. How about Him intervening where man has overstepped his boundaries? Sometimes it seems like man is prevailing. It seems like nations are out of control with genocide and oppression on the rise. Maybe human kind needs to be checked and reminded of God’s power and that we are just mere humans.

Kind of exciting scenario if you ask me. With one important caution though. Every time we call for or desire reckoning, we should go to the front of the line. What I can also do about injustice besides advocate is deal with myself. Peace and accountability begin with me.

Mercy Lord!

Pastor Fred.
