"Sister Phoebe"
Romans 16:1-2
"I commend to you Phoebe our sister, who is a servant of the church at Cenchrea, that you may receive her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints, and assist her in whatever business she has need of you, for indeed she has been a helper of many and myself also."
The Bible is so sweetly personal when it speaks of people who serve the Lord in His ministry. Just a few reflections today as my heart is moved by the many "servants of the Lord" in Grace Harbor. These bullet points are my initial reactions to some of the words and phrases about Phoebe.
• We ought to do more "commending".
• "Our sister" Phoebe is a sister to many.
• "Servant of the church", shouldn't we all be His servants in His Church?
• "At Cenchrea" infers the church is "a body" and "an organism".
• We ought to be more "receptive", like Him.
• "His worthiness" should affect my manners.
• Always assist helpers.
• Do not hinder "doers", their business of ministry is vital.
• Need to meet the needs of those who help those in need.
• Praise God for servant-helpers.
The early church really appreciated its servant-hearted helpers and so should we. To all of you who serve Him, l commend you and appreciate you for all you do. You are an amazing blessing to His Church and it's people and to me and all Pastors.
In His Service with you,
Pastor Fred
