"Taught By God"
By Greg Metcalf

I have often wondered when did Jesus know that He was the Christ, and how did He come to know it? As Christians we all desire to ‘be like Jesus’ and indeed 2 Corinthians 3;18 reveals that is just what our Father desires for us, “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord”.

Learning without YEARNING makes reading the bible a struggle and we fall on our own ‘understanding’ to make sense of it. Chapter 11 of Hebrews is filled with ordinary men and women who much like us lived flawed lives; yet they are there for us to examine as being examples of possessing great faith; which is the essence of accepting and trusting the Word for our very own lives. Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him”.  For me personally, the most direct question the Holy Spirit asked me changed my entire Christian walk and perspective, “Greg, do you believe I exist?” The pause I held in my mind was to quickly say yes, but this required a true and honest answer, “Yes Lord, I do believe you exist”.

The Holy Spirit, my long-suffering Friend and Teacher was able to open the Word so that I too, like Jesus, could know who I am as Jesus said in John 8:28, “Then Jesus said to them, "When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father TAUGHT Me, I speak these things”. This is how the Father and Jesus desire that you should learn all things, “But the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you”.

Extravagant Worship,
