“Our God is a Consuming Fire.”
Hebrews 12:29 "Our God is a consuming
fire."
Short and sweet today. Well, maybe not so sweet. Let's
think about this. This last verse of Hebrews 12 follows inspirational words
that encourage us to be grateful to serve God. When we think of God as a
consuming fire we at first think of a destructive force that wipes out
everything. What does God desire to consume? Not nature or humans, or the
universe. God feeds on glory. Because He deserves it all. Because He is who He
is and He wants all things to glorify Him. Nature does, the universe does, so
that leaves us. We choose to or not. God wants to be glorified. When we praise
Him, serve Him and are grateful, that glorifies Him. When we talk about Him,
that glorifies Him. Today, God is a consuming fire. Give Him what He wants, your
undivided servant heart. I should be consumed by what He desires.
Glory to God,
Pastor Fred
